Connecting Your Accounts 🔗

Okay, you've got your account set up. Now let's connect it to your actual bank accounts so Munyun can start tracking your money automatically.

The automatic way (recommended)

We use two different systems to connect banks: Plaid and MoneyKit. Why two? Because some banks work better with one vs the other, and we want to make sure YOUR bank is covered.

Here's how:

1. Go to your Accounts page

2. Hit the + Account button

3. Follow the steps to link your bank

Is this safe? Yes. We use bank-level security (OAuth encryption), we never see your bank password, and we can't touch your actual accounts. We just read the data.

The manual way

Don't want to connect your bank? No problem. You can track everything manually in a Google Spreadsheet and Munyun will pull from that.

1. Go to Accounts page

2. Click + Account

3. Pick Manual

4. Enter your account name, current balance, and currency

Cool bonus features:

Track your house value (US only) If you own a house, Munyun can automatically track its value using Zillow. Just add it as a manual account, choose "House" as the type, and enter your address. We'll update the value for you.

Auto-balance for manual accounts If you're manually tracking transactions in Google Sheets, turn on "Auto Balance" and Munyun will calculate your current balance based on your transactions. Just tell us your starting balance and we'll do the math.

To turn on Auto Balance:

1. Click on your manual account

2. Toggle on Auto Balance

3. Enter your Start Balance

4. Done – we'll handle the rest
